What the Seller Says

Yamaha A-S801 Integrated Amplifier (Silver) Due to a system upgrade, I'm selling my Yamaha integrated amplifier. It is in very good condition, having been bought from new and well looked after. There are a couple of minor cosmetic marks, but other than that it's in perfect working order. I bought it from Peter Tyson in the UK in June 2020. Original receipt can be provided upon request. Comes with original UK power lead, manual, remote and box packaging. Will be shipped fully insured to ensure safe arrival. About the amplifier Now discontinued in Europe, this is the current top of the "consumer" line of Yamaha integrated amplifiers. The next step up is the A-S1200, which is much more expensive. In terms of design, the chassis has a double bottom with a 1mm iron plate and the power transformer and heat sinks are stabilised by an ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) base, all of this works alongside a solid centre bar. The result is a high level of resonance dampening, which Yamaha claims will result in a clearer signal and overall improved sound. High quality parts have been used, including a custom-made power transformer, custom-made block capacitors, two direct signal path speaker relays, one point grounding system and aluminium extruded heat sinks. Other features include its continuously variable loudness control, a good ESS Sabre USB DAC (ES9010K2M) which supports 2.8MHz/5.6MHz DSD native resolution and PCM 384kHz/32-bit reproduction. There's also two sets of speaker terminals for bi-wiring as well as a subwoofer out and an MM phono cartridge input. Versus the A-S701, this amplifier has a better DAC and also a USB input. This amp has served me well for a couple of years, and I am sure it will provide good quality amplification for many years more.
